So Friday Brynlee and I gathered everything we had bought and everything we would need to go camping with we where SO excited! I did Brynlee's hair like this so (I hoped) we wouldn't have to do it at all all weekend!
Brynlee and I got everything gathered and loaded in the car and then when James came home we headed out.
We stopped at wal-mart briefly on the way out of town for a fishing license, a new fishing pole for Brynlee, some bait and some new socks for James. It was raining and dark and grey every where you looked all the way up the mountain we where getting a bit concerned but by the time we reached the mountain where we would camp it was all clear.
We found a good spot and got camp set up, Brynlee helped by wiping off the back of the jeep that was all dusty then showing off her dirty hands!
Of course cowgirl got to come! It's Camping!!!
Brynlee was so excited to be camping and in a tent for the first time at night that she didn't sleep much, that was a rough night but we woke up and everything was beautiful!
We had breakfast,
A fire to warm up,
Then casting lessons for Brynlee and practice for Daddy. James was using a brand new cheep pole he got from work so he had to test it out before going fishing.
Cowgirl was so funny she would watch Brynlee's weight go out then chase it all the way back in!
She tried it by her self a few times then Daddy had to help again, but she really liked casting practice.
Then we found a little stream we decided to try to fish. Brynlee did some casting practice here and kept asking me where all the fish where while Cowgirl played in the water.
Ain't she a cute little fisherman?
WET DOG= Happy Dog!
Then we went the 20 mins from the stream to Fenton Lake.
It was a very pretty spot and the fish where jumping all over the lake!
Brynlee fell in the tall grasses here and cut up her hands a bit but it was fun... for a little while.
After 90 mins we realized no one was really catching much and we certainly never even had a bite! SO we drove 2 miles up the road to the fish hatchery where kids 12 and under fish free with a limit of 5 fish!
It took a lot of patients, and that's hard for a 3 year old...
We tried and tried and we finally found where the fish where hiding but they would just nibble the bait and not eat it! Brynlee got hungry so daddy took her back to the car to make a sandwich while mommy kept the line in the water. They where on there way back from the car as I reeled in the first fish after that they came easy!
We caught 2 more before heading back to camp. One caught by Brynlee and me and one caught by Brynlee and Daddy!
Daddy fixed her line with her weight so she could safely carry it back to the car.
We cleaned the fish off in the water and loaded up!
After all that fishing and running around Brynlee was out like a light on the way back to camp!
When we got back James tried to put up a hammock but as you can see it didn't work too well....
then he got stuck!!! It was so funny!
Then he gutted the fish while Brynlee watched and asked a million questions and sang and said the fish were gross!
Daddy cooked up the fish and then ate them with Brynlee. Then Brynlee took cowgirl for a walk. I brought Cowgirl back to James and took Brynlee on a walk up the dirt road. We met some new friends and talked a while and pet their 3 legged dog.
When we came back from fishing there where people set up to camp all around us and we no longer had the meadow to our selves but that night after Brynlee went to sleep and James and I where enjoying our fire we heard people up on the hill yelling for their child, the child was lost but close enough you could hear him answering back (and he was a teenager) so we knew he wasn't too badly lost but by the time they found him and where bringing him back down the hill it was dark and they could not see. We saw people from their camp coming out with flashlights but they where headed in the wrong direction and we could hear them coming down in an area we knew we littered with fallen trees and things to fall on so James ran up and helped them down the hill.
That night we all slept much better except that Brynlee had spilled water all over her sleeping bag before falling asleep so we where down a sleeping bag and Brynlee and Daddy had to share once it got cold. We woke up the next morning happy and refreshed, ate breakfast and started loading up.
Brynlee didn't want to come home and was ornery the whole morning and wouldn't do a thing we asked her to do.
But on the way home she fell asleep and we had an hour and a half of quiet all the way home!
It was such an awesome first camping trip! We will have to plan to go again very soon!!!
