The Zoo with Aunt Jenny

Saturday my sister Janny and I took Brynlee to the zoo. we had a ton of fun and some of the more elusive animals where easily seen this day! Brynlee found the Tortes, and though they where sleepy the polar bears where easily seen.

Brynlee liked sitting on the rock shelf and watching the bears.

Then Brynlee spotted the "Kitty" (cougar) up above the pathway gnawing on a bone. It was pretty neat.

The other cougar was napping right next to the glass.

Brynlee even helped push the stroller.

After checking out most of the usual animal stops we made our way to the back for the reason we had chosen to go to the zoo this particular day.

It was Daisy's 2nd birthday party! Daisy is the Albuquerque zoo's baby Elephant. First we watched the male elephants practice karate with several students from a local dojo.

I Can't remember this elephant's name right now but we did learn that this is Daisy's father and that he doesn't like news cameras.

After the Karate demonstration we went to look at the new barn for the male elephants, then watched Daisy and her mother, aunt, and grandmother open presents filled with popcorn. Then we found a nice place in the grass to sit and eat lunch then looked at the displays they had set out for the kids to learn more about elephants.

This ball is one of the enrichment toys for the elephants. They fill it with yummy snacks and the elephants have to roll it and figure out how to get the snacks out. for the kids it was filled with candy.

It was a very fun day. After the zoo I went to meet my new friend (and employer) Jessica. I'll tell you all about that later but this was a very fun filled day!
